The Year 5 and 6 children met three of the local candidates over the last couple of weeks and gave them a real grilling over their different policies and found out about their plans for the local area too. They then presented in an assembly about the different parties and their manifestos before the whole school went to the polls!

Particularly popular with the children was the Labour policy around free school meals and the Green party’s plans to abolish SATS! Year 6 marshalled the polling station and counted the votes.

The results were :-

Labour – 38%, Green Party – 30%, Conservatives – 17%, Liberal Democrats – 14%
